Indian Desert Tours

Indian Desert Tours is run out of our office at A-20 Ambabari in the R K Puram area, close to Khirni. It’s a quiet residential kind of neighborhood, which makes it a nice place to sit and plan out trips. We don't have a big storefront with posters in the window. It’s more of a place where we sit with maps and our phones to get everything organized for people wanting to see the desert. We’ve spent a lot of time traveling these routes ourselves, so we know where the roads get rough and where the best spots to stop are. Most of the work involves talking to drivers and making sure the cars are in good shape. We have a small desk covered in notes and old diaries where we keep track of things. Sometimes people drop by to ask questions, and we just tell them what we know based on our own experience. It’s not a corporate travel agency setup at all. We just like the desert and helping people get out there to see it. It takes a lot of coordination to make sure everyone is where they should be at the right time. We stay pretty busy during the tourist season, but when it’s hot, we spend more time just keeping the office tidy and updating our lists. It’s a simple operation and we prefer it that way. We just keep track of the vehicles and the routes.
