We are located in the Jhotwara Industrial Area, at 51-A. This part of town is always dusty and full of trucks, but it’s where all the real work happens. Our shed is usually pretty hot, especially during the summer months in Jaipur, but we keep the fans going and just get on with it. We work with various metals, and there is always a lot of clanging and banging going on from morning until evening. It isn't a place for someone who likes peace and quiet. Most of the men working here have been living in the nearby colonies for years. We aren’t a huge corporation with fancy HR departments. We are just a bunch of people who know how to bend and cut metal. There’s a tea stall just outside our gate where we all gather around 11 am to take a break. The paperwork is mostly handled by one or two people in the small cabin at the front. It’s often messy with ledgers and invoices piled up. We don’t really have a sales pitch. If someone needs metal work done, they come by, we look at the requirements, and we give them a price. It’s a very practical way of doing things. We’ve been in Jhotwara long enough to see the whole area change, but our routine stays pretty much the same. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
