Anand Jewellers is tucked away at No. 1258 in Khow Walo Ka Chowk, which is along Gopal Ji Ka Rasta. If you know this part of the city, you know how narrow and busy the lanes are. It’s a very traditional area, and our shop fits right in. It’s a small place, packed with history and the smell of old wood. I spend my days sitting on the floor or on a low stool, which is how we’ve always done it. We have these old glass cases that hold our pieces. Gopal Ji Ka Rasta is famous for jewelry, so there are people walking by all the time. Sometimes a stray cow wanders past or a motorbike squeezes through the crowd. It’s never quiet here. We don't have air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that wobbles a little when it’s on high. I drink a lot of tea while I work, usually from the stall just a few doors down. The lighting isn't great, but I have a small lamp at my workspace for the fine details. We don't have a website or do any of that modern marketing stuff. People find us because their parents or grandparents came here. It's a slow way of doing things, but it works for us. We just keep the shop open and wait for the regulars to stop by for a chat or to see what’s new.
