Gokul Steel Industry

Our workshop is at 40 Hasanpura, right in the Jawahar Market area near Nbc Road. It is a very industrial part of town, so there is always the smell of burning metal and the sound of hammers. We deal with a lot of steel here, and it is heavy, dirty work. Most of the day is spent moving metal beams or welding parts together. Our clothes always have holes in them from the sparks, and our faces are usually covered in soot by noon. The market is always crowded with trucks loading and unloading, so getting things in and out of our gate can be a real struggle. We have been here for years and have seen the market change a lot. Inside, the floor is concrete and scarred from years of heavy work. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room; if someone wants to talk to us, they just walk into the shop and find us. It gets incredibly loud when the big machines are running, so we often have to shout to hear each other. We drink our tea standing up because there is not much place to sit down that isn't covered in metal dust. It is a tough life, but we are used to it by now. We just focus on getting the orders ready and making sure the welds are strong enough to last.
