About Ganpati Bartan Bhandar – Housewares & Supplies in Jaipur
If you come to Vidhyadhar Ji Ka Rasta in Tripoliya Bazar, look for H-628 and you’ll find us surrounded by piles of metal. We sell all kinds of kitchen utensils, mostly stainless steel, but some brass and copper too. The shop is very noisy because every time someone moves a stack of plates or pots, it makes a huge clanging sound. We have everything from tiny spoons to giant cauldrons used for cooking at weddings. People come here when they are setting up a new kitchen or when they need to buy gifts for a marriage. We spend a lot of time polishing the display pieces so they don't look dull from the city air. It’s a crowded space, and you have to be careful not to knock anything over when you walk through the aisles. My cousins and I manage the inventory, which is a headache because there are so many different sizes of lids and bowls. We don't have a fixed price list, so there is a lot of talking and bargaining going on all day. It’s just the way business is done in this market. Sometimes we have to order special items from the factory if a customer wants a specific weight of metal. It’s a traditional business, and we’ve been at this spot for a long time. There isn't much to it, just selling good sturdy pots that will last for years.
