G. Khandelwal Metal Casting Works

We’ve been here in Santosh Sagar Colony for a long time now. G. Khandelwal Metal Casting Works started out small, and honestly, it still feels that way most days. Brhampuri is a busy place, and our workshop is right in the middle of it. If you walk past, you’ll probably hear the machines running or see one of the guys moving heavy molds around. It gets pretty hot inside, especially during the summer months, but that is just part of the job with metal casting. My father used to say that the metal doesn't care about the weather, so we shouldn't either. We do mostly small and medium parts here. People come to us from all over the city when they need something specific cast in metal. We don't have a big fancy office or anyone sitting at a front desk. Most of the time, I’m back there with the workers or checking on the furnace. The floors are usually dusty, and there is always a bit of a smell from the casting process, but we like it. It’s honest work. Sometimes the neighbors complain about the noise if we stay late, so we try to wrap things up by seven. We’ve seen the colony change a lot over the years, with new buildings coming up and old ones getting knocked down, but we are still here at the same spot.
