Amar Pratap Steels Pvt Ltd is located right on Ajmer Road at H 16. It’s a spot that gets a lot of wind and dust from the highway traffic. Our yard is filled with stacks of steel rods and beams that have started to rust a little on the surface from the rain. We have a small cabin for the office part of the business, which is usually cluttered with invoices and delivery notes. The furniture is mismatched and the door doesn't close quite right, but it serves its purpose. We spend a lot of time outside talking to the loaders and checking the weight of the trucks. It’s heavy work and the sun can be brutal out here on Ajmer Road. We usually keep some cold water in an earthen pot because it tastes better than the fridge water. Sometimes the neighbor's dog comes over to sleep in the shade of our steel piles. We don't spend money on advertising or fancy websites; people just know we are here because of the big stacks of metal they see from the road. The sound of metal hitting metal is something you just get used to after the first week. By the time we go home, our clothes are usually dirty and our boots are heavy with mud, but that's what working with steel is like. It's hard work but we are used to the grind by now, even when the rain makes everything slippery.
