You can find us at shop 1746 in the Radio Market, which is part of the old Nehru Bazar area in Jaipur. It is a very busy spot and there is always the sound of metal clanging or scooters honking right outside the door. We have been dealing with different kinds of metals here for a long time. The shop isn't very large, but we use every inch of space to stack what we have. It gets incredibly hot in the summer because of the way the sun hits the market street, but we just keep the shutters open and the small fan running. People come in looking for specific parts or just to see what the current prices are for different materials. We do a lot of weighing and measuring on the old scales we’ve had for years. It’s a very traditional way of doing business where you know your neighbors and the other shopkeepers in the Radio Market. We don’t go in for anything fancy or high-tech in the front of the shop. Mostly it is just ledgers, some pens, and the smell of grease and iron. Dealing with metals is heavy work and our hands are usually a bit dirty by the end of the shift. But that is how it has always been in this part of Jaipur. We open early to beat the worst of the heat and stay until the market starts to quiet down in the evening.
