Our shop is hidden away inside Purohitji KA Naya Katla, which is right in the Johari Bazar area. It can be a bit hard to find if you’re not looking for it, as the entrance to the katla is quite small. But once you’re inside, it’s like a different world. It’s a bit cooler in here, away from the direct sun. We’ve been operating as Badrinarayan Kailashnarayan for generations. The name is a bit long, but it’s who we are. The shop is full of old wooden counters and heavy iron safes that have been here since the beginning. We haven't changed much over the years because we like things the way they are. We spend a lot of time just sitting on the floor cushions, talking to whoever comes in. It’s a very traditional setup. We don't have fancy displays or air conditioning. We just have our stock and our history. Most people who come to us have been told about us by their parents or grandparents. It’s all about those long-term relationships here. Sometimes we spend the whole afternoon just drinking tea and catching up with other shopkeepers in the katla. It’s a slow pace, but it’s how business has always been done in this part of Jaipur. We’re just keeping the tradition alive, day by day, without any unnecessary fuss or complicated rules.
