Arvind Bartan Bhandar

Our shop, Arvind Bartan Bhandar, sits at number 177 in the Ramgarh Mod area. We deal in all sorts of kitchenware, from heavy stainless steel pots to brass items for special ceremonies. The shop is quite packed, so you have to watch where you walk or you might knock over a stack of plates or tiffins. We have been here for years, and most of the locals know they can find whatever they need for their home kitchen here. It’s a dusty place because of the road traffic right outside, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the steel to keep it looking shiny. We carry local brands that people trust for their daily cooking. There is no air conditioning, just a big old ceiling fan that makes a lot of noise. When the wedding season comes around, it gets incredibly busy with families buying big sets for gifts. We handle all the packing ourselves, using old newspapers and bits of twine to keep everything together. It’s not a modern showroom, just a traditional store where things are piled high. We know our regulars by name and usually know what they are looking for before they even ask. Sometimes we help people repair their old pressure cookers too, like replacing the gaskets or safety valves. It is a steady business and we are happy to be part of this community.
