Ambika Silai Machine Works

Ambika Silai Machine Works is located at 41 Chaura Rasta, right in the heart of the Radio Market. We have been working on sewing machines for a long time. The shop is quite small and it’s filled with old machines, spare parts, and the smell of machine oil. You have to be careful where you step because there is usually a heavy cast iron machine base on the floor. We spend our days taking things apart, cleaning out lint, and putting them back together. It is very detailed work and it can be quite greasy. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know how these machines work. People bring in their grandmother's old machines or newer ones that have stopped stitching properly. We don't do any big advertising. People just find us because we are in the Radio Market. It’s a busy area with lots of noise and people walking by. We just sit at our benches and focus on the needles and gears. We aren't trying to be the most modern shop. We like the old way of doing things. If a machine can be fixed, we fix it. We don't try to sell you something you don't need. It’s an honest living and it keeps us busy from morning until evening. We enjoy the challenge of a particularly broken machine. When it finally runs smoothly again, it’s a good feeling. That’s just life here at the shop.
