Aharm Bartan Bhandar

Down on Ajmer Road near the DCM area, things stay pretty busy. That is where we have Aharm Bartan Bhandar. It’s a lot of traffic passing by all day long. We deal with all kinds of utensils. Steel is the main thing, but we have some aluminum and brass too. People stopping their bikes or cars on the side of the road to pick up a quick pressure cooker or some new glasses for their kitchen. The shop isn't massive but we cram a lot of stuff in there. You have to watch your step because there are stacks of bowls and tiffins on the floor. Most days it’s just us and the noise of the main road. We see a lot of commuters and folks living in the nearby colonies. It gets hot in the afternoons but we have a small fan that keeps us going. It’s just a regular business. We don't do much advertising at all. People just know we are here on Ajmer Road. We spend a lot of time cleaning the fingerprints off the shiny steel plates. It feels like a never-ending job. Sometimes kids come in with their mothers and start touching everything, which makes a lot of noise when things fall down. We just pick them up and carry on with the work. It’s been this way for years now and we don’t expect it to change much anytime soon.
