Abu Engineering Works

Started the shop at 20 Station Road a long time ago. Sindhi Camp is always crowded with buses and people. The noise is constant. Most days we are just covered in grease and metal shavings. Abu Engineering Works isn't a fancy place. We have a couple of lathes and some old tools that still work better than the new ones. It gets hot in the afternoons here. You can hear the bus conductors shouting destinations from the road. Customers come in with broken parts, sometimes they don't even know what happened. We look at the metal, see where it snapped, and try to fix it. It is not always easy. Sometimes a job takes two hours, sometimes it takes all day. We just stay here until it is done. The tea stalls nearby keep us going. If you walk down from the station, you will see the sign. It is a bit faded now from the sun. The floor is stained with oil, but that is how a workshop should be. We don't spend much time cleaning the walls, we just focus on the machines. Some days are slow and we just sit and watch the traffic go by on Station Road. Other days we can't even stop for lunch. That is just how life is in Sindhi Camp for us. We are just local people doing engineering work the way it has always been done, right here at number 20.
