Being right near the Police Chowki makes it easy to give directions to people who haven't been to this part of town before. It’s a rough and tumble kind of neighborhood, mostly filled with workshops and small factories. There is always the sound of grinding metal or someone hammering away nearby. We sell a bit of everything, from heavy bolts to specific car parts. Our shelves are pretty cramped and dark. Sometimes we lose a screwdriver and it turns up a week later under a pile of catalogs. We don't have a big sign out front, just the one we've had for years. It’s a bit faded and peeling now. The floor is concrete and has definitely seen better days. We get a lot of workers coming in through the day. They’re usually in a big hurry to get back to their projects. We try to help them find what they need quickly so they can get back to work. There’s always a cup of coffee or tea sitting somewhere, usually getting cold while we work. It’s not the quietest place to spend a day, but it’s where we belong. We’ve got a small back room for the heavier stock. It gets very hot in the afternoons, especially during the summer months. We just open the shutters wide and hope for a little breeze. It’s a practical place for practical people.
