Roshan Traders

If you know the Abids area, you know how crowded it gets on Hanuman Tekdi Road. That’s where we are, at 6-25-88. It’s an old part of the city, and the streets are narrow, so getting big deliveries in is always a bit of a headache. We have been trading here for years. The building has some cracks and the paint is peeling, but it stays cool inside even when it is baking hot outside. Most of our day is spent on the phone or writing down numbers in our ledgers. We don't use computers for everything because the old way feels more reliable to us. There is always a stack of crates or boxes blocking some part of the floor. You have to watch your step when you walk in. The neighbors are mostly other traders, so we all know each other. Sometimes we share tea in the evening when things slow down. We don't have any big signs or bright lights. People who need us usually know where to find us. It’s a lot of back and forth with suppliers and customers. Some days are slow and we just sit and watch the rain or the people passing by. Other days, we don't even have time to eat lunch. We just do what we can and try to get the orders out on time. The Hanuman Tekdi Road area has changed a lot, but our shop stays the same with that old door that creaks every time.
