Poddar Granites

Poddar Granites is tucked into Wood Corner at S.H. No. 5-32, right along the Bombay Road in Kukatpally. It’s a busy part of the area, and we’ve been operating from this spot for a good while now. The yard isn't the biggest, but we pack a lot of granite into it. You’ll usually see a couple of us out front moving slabs with the rollers or just cleaning off the grime that builds up from the road traffic. Being on the Bombay Road means there is always a lot of movement, and we try to keep things orderly so we don't block the way. We get all sorts of stone coming in, and we spend a lot of time just sorting through what's good and what’s got a crack in it. My hands are usually pretty rough from handling the edges of the rocks all day. It’s not the kind of work where you stay clean, that's for sure. We just talk to the locals who are building houses nearby or the contractors who know we are here in Kukatpally. There’s no big sales pitch here; we just tell you what we have and how much it weighs. Most days are just about getting the orders ready and making sure the trucks are loaded properly so nothing breaks on the way to the site. It’s just regular work for us, day in and day out, making sure the stone gets where it needs to go.
