Utsav Marble Emporium

Our shop is at Plot No. 162 in Kamalapuri Colony, specifically the Phase-2 extension near Srinagar Colony. It’s a bit of a residential area that has grown over the years. We keep a lot of our marble slabs stacked against the walls so people can see the patterns in the stone. It’s heavy work, moving those around. We use a lot of water for cutting and polishing, so the floor is often a bit wet. I’ve been working with stone since I was a younger man, and you learn a lot about how different types of marble behave. Some are brittle and some are tough. We have customers who come in looking for something for their kitchen or a floor, and we just show them what we have in the yard at the moment. It’s not like those fancy showrooms in the city center with bright lights and air conditioning. We’re more of a hands-on place. There’s a lot of noise when the saws are running, so we usually have to shout to be heard. My son helps out with the books and talking to the suppliers. We take things as they come. If a delivery is late, we just wait and do something else in the meantime. It’s a steady kind of business. We’ve been in this spot for quite a while now and the neighbors don't seem to mind the noise too much.
