Our place is basically where we keep the big deep freezers running all day and night. It’s a lot of electricity, but you have to keep everything cold especially when the sun is hitting the roof in the afternoons. Most days involve checking the temperatures and making sure the stock is packed right so nothing melts. People from around the colony usually stop by in the evenings when it’s a bit cooler outside. We aren't some big corporate chain with fancy uniforms; it’s mostly just us handling the scoops and the containers. The floor is usually a bit cold from the fans, and we spend a lot of time wiping down the counters. Maruthi Nagar is a decent place to be, and we have gotten to know the families living nearby quite well. Sometimes the kids come in after school and it gets a little noisy, but that’s just how it goes. We just focus on keeping the freezers full and making sure the lights stay on so we can serve anyone who walks through the door.
