You’ll find us out in the industrial area at IDA Cherlapally. Our place is 72/a. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city, but this is where all the heavy work happens. The area is full of factories and warehouses, so it’s always noisy with the sound of machines and trucks passing by. We deal with granite and tiles, and since we are in an industrial zone, we have plenty of space for the big slabs. The ground is always a bit dusty from the stone being moved around. We don't have a fancy front office; it's mostly just a desk in the corner of the shed where we keep the books. The roof is corrugated metal, so it gets quite loud when it rains, and it’s definitely hot in the summer months. Most of us here wear heavy boots because you have to be careful with the stone. We don't really have office hours in the way a bank does; we are usually here as long as there is work to be done. We get people coming in from all over Hyderabad looking for specific pieces. We just point them to the stacks and let them look around. There’s no pressure or anything like that. We know our stone and we know how to move it safely. That’s pretty much all there is to it. It's hard work, but it's what we know.
