Bala Saraswathi Stones

Bala Saraswathi Stones is situated right on the Warangal High Way at Bodupal. The house number is H845, but you can’t miss the stacks of stone in the front yard. Being on the highway means there is a constant roar of traffic, which you get used to after a week. We deal with heavy stuff, so there is always a crane or a trolley moving around. The ground is covered in stone dust, so your shoes always end up white by the end of the day. We have a small shack that serves as an office, mostly to stay out of the rain or the direct sun. There are samples of different stones lying around on the floor so people can see what they are getting. We don't really have a set closing time; usually, we stay until the last truck is loaded. It’s a family-run thing, and we take turns watching the gate. The water cooler is the most popular spot in the yard during the hot months. We don't do anything fancy with sales pitches. People come in, look at the stone, and we tell them the price. It’s straightforward. Sometimes the highway gets blocked with traffic and we just sit and watch the cars go by. It’s a lot of lifting and moving, but the stone is solid and it lasts a long time. We try to keep things organized but it is a struggle.
