Archana Granite

Archana Granite has been sitting here on Begum Bazar Road for quite some time. If you’ve ever walked down 64 Begum Bazar Road, you’ve probably seen our stacks of stone leaning against the walls. Afzalgunj is always crowded, so getting the big trucks in and out is a real headache sometimes. We usually have to do the heavy loading early in the morning before the traffic gets too bad. Inside the shop, it’s mostly just piles of samples and some old ledgers we use to keep track of everything. It isn’t the quietest place to work because of all the honking outside, but we’re used to it. My cousin and I run the place, and we spend most of our time explaining why one piece of stone looks different from another. Granite is natural, so it has spots and lines that don't always match up, which some people find confusing. We don't try to make it sound like more than it is. It's just heavy rock that looks nice once it's polished up. We don't have a fancy showroom with air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that squeaks a bit. People come by, pick what they like, and we figure out the delivery. It’s straightforward work. We’ve known the neighbors for years, and we all just try to get through the day and sell some stone. It’s a busy life in a busy part of the city, but we like it here.
