Nandikeshwari Iron Foundry Pvt. Ltd. is situated at 46, Moulana Abul Kalam Azad Road in Howrah. Being in Howrah, you already know it’s a place where things get built. The foundry is a hot place to be, especially when we’re pouring. There’s always smoke and the sound of heavy metal being moved around. It’s hard work, and we all go home pretty tired at the end of the shift. We’ve got the old furnaces and the sand moulds spread out all over the floor. It’s not the cleanest environment, but that’s just how an iron foundry is. You can’t really avoid the dust and the soot. We’ve been at this location for quite some time now. The street outside is usually crowded with carts and trucks trying to load up. We just try to stay organized so we don't lose track of the different patterns and moulds. Sometimes the weather makes it tough, like when it rains hard and the roof leaks a little in the corner, but we just move things out of the way and keep going. We don't have any big corporate offices or anything. Just the main shed where the iron gets melted. It’s what we know how to do. We show up, we do the work, and we head back home. That’s the way it’s always been for us here. The neighbors are used to the noise and we are used to the heat.
