D. M. S. Udyog

D. M. S. Udyog is based out in Kona, specifically in the Bag Para area. It is a bit of a trek to get out here if you aren't from around these parts. Our workshop is simple, just a roof and some sturdy walls where we do our manufacturing work. We have a few machines that have been running for years and they still do the job just fine. The local surroundings are quiet compared to the big city, which we like. Most of the people working here live nearby, so we all know each other’s families and what’s going on in the village. We don't have any corporate policies or fancy meetings. We just show up in the morning, check what needs to be made, and get to it. Sometimes the weather makes it hard to work, especially when it’s too humid or during the heavy monsoon rains. We deal with basic parts for other businesses, depending on the current contracts we have. It’s a small operation and we handle everything ourselves, from the raw materials to the final packing. We don't spend money on advertising because word of mouth in a place like Kona is usually enough. It’s a modest way to make a living, but we take a bit of pride in the stuff we produce. We just keep things moving slowly and steadily every day without any big fuss or complicated plans.
