We are located in Howrah, right on Raj Ballve Saha 1st Bye Lane. If you know Ramkrishnapur, you know the streets are narrow and always crowded. It’s a very old part of the city. Our office is tucked away in one of those lanes. It’s not the easiest place to find if you’re not from around here. We’ve been operating out of this spot for quite a while. Being in West Bengal, the humidity is always there, and the walls of the old buildings show it. We deal with the industrial side of things, mostly paperwork and coordinating with the bigger units. It’s a lot of phone calls and ledger work. The tea man comes around twice a day, and that’s when we usually take a break. The sounds of the street—rickshaws, people shouting, the occasional bell from a temple—are always in the background. It’s a far cry from a modern glass office in a tech park. We like it this way though. It feels real. You walk out the door and you’re right in the middle of the local life. Sometimes the monsoon floods the lane a bit, but we just put on our boots and keep moving. It is a busy, messy, and very human way to work. We just focus on the tasks at hand and try to stay on top of the schedule.
