Haradhan & Co.

At Haradhan & Co., we have been on Natabar Paul Road in Kadamtala for a good amount of time. The shop is right at 14/4/2 and it’s a pretty familiar spot for people in this part of town. Every morning starts with pulling up the heavy metal shutters and sweeping out the front. It’s a bit of a routine that hasn’t changed much over the years. We handle various bits and pieces that people need for their daily work or home projects. The road outside is always full of rickshaws and people rushing to the market, so it stays pretty noisy until late evening. We don’t really have a big staff, just a few of us who know where everything is kept on the shelves. Sometimes things get a bit disorganized when it’s busy, but we eventually find what we are looking for. We spend a lot of time talking to the regulars who have been coming here since we first opened the doors. It’s a local business through and through, nothing corporate about how we run things. We just write down orders in our ledger and try to keep up with what’s in stock. If we don’t have something, we usually know where to get it or who to ask. It’s just about getting through the day and making sure the customers aren't waiting too long on the sidewalk, even when the weather is bad or the street is flooded.
