Savanur Farmers Producer Company Limited

We are the farmers from Mannangi who put this company together. It’s a small place, and most of us have been farming here our whole lives. We started the Savanur Farmers Producer Company because we were tired of the middleman taking most of the profit while we did all the heavy lifting in the dirt. It’s a collective effort. We don’t have a big fancy office building with a receptionist. We usually gather in a common space in the village to talk about seed prices or the upcoming harvest. Mannangi is where we live and work, so everyone knows everyone else’s business anyway. We handle different crops depending on what the season allows. It’s a lot of manual labor and worrying about the weather. We try to help each other out with equipment when we can. The goal was just to make farming a bit more sustainable for our families here. We are just regular people, not businessmen in suits. Our hands are usually dirty, and we spend more time on tractors than at desks. It’s a simple setup. We share the costs and we share the work. Sometimes it’s chaotic when harvest time comes, but we’ve managed to keep things moving for a while now. We’re just trying to get a fair shake for the work we put into the ground every single day. There’s not much more to it than that, just folks from Mannangi trying to do better for ourselves and our land.
