Rajasthani Bhojnalaya

I’ve been working here at Rajasthani Bhojnalaya for a while now. We are located right in the basement of the Amar Palace Hotel. It’s a bit of a funny spot because you have to head downstairs, but most folks in Gwalior know where the Phool Bagh Chauraha is. We are tucked right under the State Bank of India in Lashkar. Some people miss the entrance the first time since it is below the ground level, but the big SBI sign is usually enough to guide you. It gets pretty busy around here during the day because of all the bank work and the hotel guests coming and going. The basement stays relatively cool even when the Gwalior heat gets bad outside. We just focus on getting things ready every morning before the first people walk in. There’s not much fancy about the place, just tables and chairs and the smell of food cooking in the back. Usually, the staff is busy cleaning up or setting things for the lunch crowd. It is a practical setup for anyone who finds themselves near the station or the main market area. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years, but the hotel upstairs and the bank have stayed consistent landmarks for us. It’s just a normal day-to-day operation here in Lashkar. Most of our regulars are just people working nearby who need a place to sit for a bit.
