Monark The Family Salon

You can find us on the first floor of Millennium Plaza. It's on University Road in Govindpuri, Gwalior. This is a family salon, so we see everyone from kids to grandparents. Being in a plaza means we get a lot of students from the university area. The place is a bit bigger than a regular roadside shop. We have different sections for men and women. I tried to make it look decent with some lights and big mirrors. It’s not a luxury place, but it’s comfortable. We do everything from basic haircuts to bridal stuff and grooming for men. My staff is a group of young people from Gwalior who are learning the trade. Sometimes we have a lot of noise because of the students talking, but it keeps the energy up. The plaza has parking, which is good because the road outside is always jammed. I spend most of my day managing the appointments. We don't use a computer. Everything is written in a big register. Sometimes we lose the pen. It’s a busy life. We try to keep up with the new trends that the kids ask for. Gwalior is getting more modern, so we have to try new things too. But at the end of the day, it's just about making people look a bit better. I often stand by the balcony during breaks to watch the traffic on University Road. It's a long climb up the stairs but worth it.
