Dharmu Hair Saloon

We have been here at Govindpuri on University Road for a good while now. The shop is right in front of Millennium Plaza, so we see a lot of people passing by all day. It’s a busy spot in Gwalior. I usually start the morning by sweeping the floor and getting the chairs ready before the first person walks in. We have three chairs and they stay pretty full, especially when the university students have their breaks. It gets a bit noisy with the traffic outside, but inside we just focus on the hair. Some people come in for a quick trim and others want something more specific, and we just do what’s asked. The mirrors have a few smudges sometimes but we try to keep things neat. It isn’t a fancy place with big lights or anything like that. Just a regular room with scissors, combs, and a bit of talk about what’s happening in the neighborhood. Often, people sit and wait their turn while checking their phones or looking out at the plaza across the street. We keep the fans running because it gets warm in the afternoon. It is just a simple way to spend the day, cutting hair and making sure everyone looks okay when they leave. We don’t have any big signs inside, just the tools we need and a radio playing in the background sometimes. It’s what we do every day from morning until we close up late at night.
