Shri Mahesh Steels

Our place is right on A.T. Road. If you’ve traveled this way, you’ve probably passed by our sign a dozen times. Shri Mahesh Steels isn't one of those massive warehouses you see on the edge of town. We are right in the thick of things. The road is always busy with buses and cars, so it’s never really quiet here. We’ve got stacks of steel piled up inside, and sometimes we have to move three things just to get to one piece at the bottom. It keeps us on our toes. My uncle started this business a long time ago, and I took over after I finished school. We don’t have a fancy computer system; we still use a big ledger for most of our bookkeeping. It works for us. The guys working in the yard have been here forever and they know exactly where everything is located, even if it looks like a mess to someone else. We deal with a lot of small contractors and people fixing up their own houses. The dust from the road gets everywhere, so we are always cleaning off the desks. We drink a lot of tea and wait for the trucks to bring in new supplies. It’s a regular life. We aren’t trying to grow into a giant company. We just want to keep the shop running and make sure the customers get what they need without too much fuss.
