Laxmi Steel is our business located in Ganpati Plaza at A-2 on the ground floor. We are situated on S R C B Road, which is right in the heart of the Fancy Bazar area. If you’ve ever been down to Fancy Bazar, you know how crowded it gets during the day. There are people and goods everywhere you look. Being on the ground floor is lucky for us because we deal with heavy steel products. Moving pipes and heavy sheets around is much easier when you don't have to deal with any stairs. Laxmi Steel has been a fixture in Ganpati Plaza for a long time now. The shop is filled with the smell of metal and the constant sound of heavy things being loaded onto trucks. It’s a busy and gritty environment. I don't wear a suit or anything formal to work. Usually, it’s just a plain shirt that I don't mind getting a bit dirty from the rust. I keep my accounts in a simple ledger on my old wooden desk. S R C B Road is always jammed with traffic, so getting deliveries in and out can be a big headache. But that is just part of the trade in this part of Fancy Bazar. We don't use any fancy advertising. Our customers are mostly regulars who have been coming to us for many years. It’s a straightforward business. We sell steel, we talk to people, and we try to get through the work. It’s a tiring job but it feels good.
