Navkar Marbles

Navkar Marbles is one of the shops at Plot No. 6 in the Garhi Sikander Pur marble market. If you know the area, you know it’s almost nothing but stone yards for several blocks. We are right in the middle of it all. Working here means getting used to the sound of saws cutting through stone and the constant hum of forklifts moving around in the street. Our space is filled with different types of marble brought in from various places. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the slabs standing on their ends against the racks. We spend most of our time out in the yard, checking the stock and helping people find the right pattern for their house. It’s not the kind of place where you wear your best clothes because of the white dust that gets on everything. We have a small office for the paperwork, but we aren't in there much at all. Most of our day is spent dealing with the transport guys or the local masons. The market gets quite crowded on the weekends when people have time to come out and look at materials for their renovations. We’ve been at this location for a few years and have seen the whole market grow around us. It’s just a regular stone yard where we do our daily work and try to keep things moving along.
