Jaya Engineering is located out near the 69 Km Stone on the road to Dharuhera, in the Malpura area. It’s a bit outside the main town, so there is more space for the heavy machines. We mostly deal with metal work and fixing mechanical parts. The shop is quite large and has a high tin roof. It gets very loud when the machines are running, especially the lathes and the welding equipment. There is always the smell of burnt metal and machine oil in the air. We don't do anything fancy or high-tech. It’s mostly about fixing things that have broken down or making simple metal components for local builders and farmers. I spend most of my day in my overalls, covered in grease. We have a few guys working here who are good with their hands. Sometimes a truck will pull up with a broken axle or some part that needs to be welded back together. We take a look, give a rough idea of when it will be done, and get to work. It’s honest, physical labor. The sun hits the metal roof and makes it hot in the afternoons, but we just keep the big doors open for the breeze. People come to us because they know we've been at this 69 Km Stone spot for a while and we know how to handle the tools. It’s just a workshop, nothing more, nothing less, just helping get things back in working order.
