G. D. Goenka World School

If you head down the Sohna-Gurgaon Road, you’ll find G. D. Goenka World School. It’s a bit out of the main city of Gurgaon, sitting in Sohna. The drive out here takes some time, especially with the trucks on the road. The campus is quite large compared to the schools in the city center. We have big buildings and plenty of open space around us. It’s often a bit windier here than it is in town. Inside, the hallways are wide and long. We spend a lot of our time walking from one wing to another. The classrooms are filled with the usual stuff—desks, chairs, and lots of papers. Because we are on the Sohna-Gurgaon Road, we see a lot of commuters passing by, but once you are inside the gates, it feels separate from the traffic. The staff room is a busy place where people are always trying to finish their work before the next bell. We have a big cafeteria where everyone gathers, and it gets quite loud around noon. The grounds take a lot of work to maintain, and you’ll often see the gardeners out there. It’s a big operation to keep a place like this running smoothly every day. We don't really have a lot of quiet moments until the buses leave in the afternoon. Then the whole place feels very still until the next morning when the cycle starts again.
