Emerald Overseas

Our office is situated at A 443 in DLF Phase 1. It is a quieter part of the city compared to the main roads, which we like. The building is older than some of the new glass towers you see popping up everywhere else in Gurgaon. We have a couple of rooms where we keep our files and the desks are mostly covered in folders and loose papers. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we know where everything is. Usually, the morning starts with making a pot of tea and talking about the traffic on the way in. The commute can be a real pain if you don't leave early enough. We do a lot of talking on the phone and typing out messages to people in different time zones. Sometimes it feels like all we do is wait for replies. There’s a small window in the back that looks out over a little patch of green, which is nice when you need a break from looking at the screen. We don’t have any big slogans or posters about being the best. We just try to get the paperwork right so there aren't any delays at the port or with the customs people. It’s a lot of small details that you have to keep track of, otherwise things go wrong pretty fast. By the time we leave, the sun is usually down and the street lights are already on.
