Nu Cork Products Pvt. Ltd. operates out of 96-97 in the IDC area on Mehrauli Road. If you know that part of town, you know it gets quite busy with all the trucks and commercial vehicles moving around. Our space is basically a big functional area where we handle all the cork materials. There is a specific smell to the place, kind of earthy, which you get used to after a few minutes. We don’t have any plush carpets or modern glass partitions. It is mostly concrete floors and heavy shelving. The fans hum all day long to keep the air moving, especially when the Delhi heat really starts to kick in during May. We have a small office section where the computers are, but most of the action happens in the main bay. Our staff usually wears sturdy shoes because there is a lot of walking back and forth. Lunch happens in shifts so there is always someone around. We get our supplies delivered through the main gate, and sometimes the big lorries have a hard time backing in when the road is crowded. It is a straightforward operation without any hidden layers. We just focus on the inventory and making sure everything is counted right before it goes out. Sometimes we sit outside for a bit during the winter sun. It is just a regular workplace doing what we do every day.
