Modern Services is located right in Gurgaon Village inside the Apna Bazzar area. It is an older part of the town, so the streets are very narrow and always full of people walking around. We have been operating out of this specific spot for a long time. Our work is mostly about fixing home appliances and whatever other mechanical things people decide to bring in. It is a small shop packed with all sorts of spare parts and random tools. The shelves are a bit messy because we have so many different bits and pieces for various types of machines. You will not find a fancy waiting room or air conditioning here. Most people just drop their stuff off and come back later in the week to see if it is done. We spend most of our time testing motors or checking the wiring on things. It gets pretty loud in the bazzar, especially on the weekends when everyone is out doing their shopping. We have a small workbench where most of the actual repair work happens. Sometimes we have to go out to people's houses if the machine is too big for them to carry, but usually, the work is done right here. We do not use any fancy computer systems for our records, just a simple notebook where we write down names and phone numbers. It is a very traditional way of doing things, but it works for us. The shop has a specific smell of grease and old metal.
