Capital Tent House

Down on Khandsa Road, you’ll find our place at number 9. It’s mostly just a big yard and a shed where we keep all the stuff. We’ve got stacks of chairs, rolled-up carpets, and all those heavy metal poles for the big tents. When wedding season starts, this place becomes a bit of a mess. There are trucks loading up at four in the morning and guys moving heavy bundles around. It’s hard work and everyone is usually tired, but that’s the business. We’ve been at this spot for a long time now. People in the area know where to find us when they have a function at home. It’s not just big weddings either, sometimes it’s just a few chairs for a small prayer meeting. The weather is the biggest problem for us. If it rains, everything gets heavy and muddy, and we have to dry out the fabric before it gets ruined. We spend a lot of time mending tears or painting the poles so they don’t look too old. Khandsa Road is a busy area with a lot of noise from the traffic passing by. We don’t have an office with air conditioning or anything fancy. Usually, we just sit on one of the folding chairs near the gate and talk to whoever comes by needing a quote for their event. It is a simple life and we just take it one day at a time.
