Dheeraj Kumar & Bros

We have been running Dheeraj Kumar & Bros in Sadar Bazar for quite a long time now. It’s a very busy area and the noise from the street never really stops during the day. My brother and I manage the shop together, which can be a lot of work sometimes. Most of our days are spent unpacking big boxes and making sure everything is visible on the shelves. We don't have any fancy displays or expensive lighting. It is just a regular shop where we sell a bit of everything that people around here seem to need. The building is old and the walls are a bit stained, but it serves its purpose well. In the summer months, it gets very hot inside despite the ceiling fans. We usually sit near the front to catch whatever breeze comes in from the door. Sometimes customers come in looking for things we don't have, and we just tell them honestly where they might find it. We aren't trying to be the biggest store in the market. We just want to keep things moving and earn a decent living. In the afternoons, we take turns going for tea at the stall nearby. It’s a simple routine and we have gotten used to the rhythm of the bazar over the years. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk, while other days are so packed we barely have time to eat. That is just how business goes in this part of town.
