We've been running Burmese Kitchen for a while now over here at H 16/6 in DLF Phase I. Most folks know us because we're tucked right near the Silver Oaks Apartment. It’s a busy spot but we try to keep things steady. It’s just us here most days, making food that we know how to make well. Sometimes the spices are a bit different than what you find around the corner, but that’s just how Burmese cooking goes. My cousin helps out in the back and we spend a lot of time just prepping vegetables and making sure everything is ready before the lunch rush hits. The traffic around Gurgaon can be a nightmare, so we’re glad to have a spot that people can actually walk to if they live nearby. We don’t have fancy menus or anything, just the usual stuff written on the board. People ask why we picked this location, but it just made sense at the time. It gets hot in the kitchen during the summer, but we’re used to it. We keep the place clean and focus on the stove. If you’re walking past Silver Oaks, you’ll probably smell what we’re cooking. It’s not a big operation, just a small kitchen trying to do right by the ingredients. We close up when the food runs out, which happens more often lately. Anyway, that’s who we are and where we spend our days.
