Ashish Taxi Services

Our base is over on Ghata Road, near Carter Puri. It is a bit of a different vibe out here compared to the middle of the city. The roads can be a bit rough in places, especially after a heavy rain when the puddles get deep. Ashish Taxi Services is a small operation. We have a few cars and we try to keep them running as best as we can. The office is a simple room with a desk and a couple of plastic chairs. We don't have air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that hums all day. We write all our trips down in a large ledger that’s getting a bit battered. Sometimes the drivers sit out front and chat while they wait for their next dispatch. Carter Puri is a quiet area but it is starting to get more traffic these days. We know the shortcuts through the back lanes to avoid the main road jams. It’s a lot of driving and a lot of waiting. We don't have any flashy signs, just our name on the wall. The work is steady and it keeps us on our toes. We often have to work through the weekends because that’s when people want to go out. We've lived in this part of town for years, so we know exactly how long it takes to get anywhere. It’s just us doing what we know how to do, which is driving cars. The office door stays open mostly.
