United Marbles & Granites

Down here at Door No. 5/458 on the Bypass Road, things stay pretty busy. We are in Atmakuru Village, part of the Mangalgiri Mandalam area. The location is good because the big trucks can pull in and out without too much trouble. We handle a lot of granite and marble. Granite is particularly heavy, so we have to be careful with the lifting equipment. The yard is mostly open to the sky. When it’s hot, the stone gets warm to the touch. We have rows and rows of slabs lined up. Some of the granite has these really nice sparkles in it when the sun hits it right. We don't have a big sales team or anything like that. It’s usually just a couple of us helping out whoever walks in. People from the village and the nearby towns come by. They usually want something that lasts a long time. We show them the different thicknesses we have in stock. The office is just a small room with a fan and some ledgers. We keep track of everything by hand mostly. It’s a lot of physical labor, moving pieces around so people can see the full pattern. Sometimes we have to wash the dust off a slab so the colors show up better. It’s just the daily routine of a stone yard.
