Shree Shankar Traders

Shree Shankar Traders is right at 1222, Nehru Ganj. If you know the Hanuman Temple, you know where we are because it’s right near by. It gets really loud around here during the festival times but we don’t mind the noise much anymore. We’ve been at this spot for quite a bit. The shop is filled with all sorts of things and sometimes it’s hard to find a place to sit down. We start early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. Nehru Ganj is always busy with people moving around and carts blocking the way. You get used to the shouting and the smells of the market. We spend most of our time talking to customers or checking the stock. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint but we haven't found the time to do it yet. My family has been doing this kind of work for a long time. It’s just what we know. Sometimes the tea stall guy brings us a glass and we take a break for five minutes. It’s a tight space at 1222 but it works for us. We try to keep things organized but in a place like this, things get messy fast. That’s just life in the Ganj. We are happy to be here near the temple. It feels like a good place to be every day. We see the same faces every morning. The flower seller next door always says hello. We have a small radio that plays old songs while we work.
