Raj Brick

We are located out in Village Dumri. If you are coming through the Sahjanwa taluka, you will find us easily enough in the Gorakhpur district. Raj Brick has been here at Post Dumri for as long as most people can remember. It is a quiet area for the most part, except for when the work is in full swing. The ground here is good for what we do. We spend a lot of time outside in the sun, watching the weather and hoping the rain doesn’t come at the wrong time. In a village like Dumri, everyone knows everyone else’s business, so we try to keep things tidy and honest. We don’t have a website or any of that stuff. People just know where the kiln is and they come by when they need supplies for a house or a wall. It is hard work, mostly manual, and your hands get dirty within five minutes of starting the shift. But that is the nature of making bricks in Gorakhpur. The seasons dictate how much we can get done. During the monsoon, things slow down quite a bit, and we just do maintenance and wait for the sun to come back out. It’s a simple cycle. We aren't trying to change the world, just making sure there are enough bricks for the local builders who depend on us. It’s just how things go when you’re working with the earth and the heat of the ovens all day.
