Gautam Singh Ss Intermediate College

This college is right in Gorakhpur, 273001. Gautam Singh Ss Intermediate College isn't one of those places with a glass front or a fancy lobby. It’s a sturdy building where we teach the older kids. Most of them are looking toward finishing their intermediate studies so they can move on to whatever is next in their lives. The hallways can be a bit echoey when they are empty, but that doesn't happen often. Usually, there is the sound of teachers talking and the scratching of pens on paper. We have a lot of paperwork to deal with, especially during admissions or exam season. The office is usually stacked with files and old registers that we haven't found a place for yet. We try to keep the fans running when it's humid, though they can be a bit noisy. The students come from all over the local area. Some walk, some bike. We know most of their faces and their families. It's a community thing. There’s no big corporate office behind us. It’s just the principal, the teachers, and the maintenance staff trying to make sure the building stays standing and the kids learn something. We have a small courtyard where they gather during breaks. It’s nothing special to look at, but it’s ours and it serves the purpose. We just take it one day at a time here.
