In Bargadwa Soyamkhesraha, things move a bit slower than in the big towns. We started Bargadwa Soyam Farmer Producer Company Limited because we were tired of being the last ones to know anything about market prices. Our little office at 01 Bargadwa is basically a room where we store some gear and sit down to talk. It’s not very fancy, and the roof leaks a little when it rains hard, but it serves its purpose. We spend our days checking on the crops and making sure everyone has what they need for the planting season. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything like that. We just rely on word of mouth and the fact that everyone knows everyone else around here. It’s a lot of manual labor and sometimes the stress of a bad crop gets to everyone. We try to keep things simple. If there is a problem with the harvest, we sit down and try to figure it out together. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to make it a bit easier for the families living here. There are a lot of long days and the work never really stops, but that’s just how it is when you’re working the land. We take things as they come and try not to worry too much about the rest.
