Raman Garments

Raman Garments is at number 4 in the Gole Market area near Ghanta Ghar. The building we are in is quite old and has a lot of character. Gole Market is a circular area, so it is easy to get turned around if you are not from here. Our shop has very high ceilings which makes it feel bigger than it actually is. We keep the clothes on long racks that run along the walls. I have been running this place since my father retired. We sell mostly basic items like sweaters in the winter and light shirts in the summer. We don't have any fancy carpets, just a plain stone floor that stays cool in the heat. There is a small tea stall just a few doors down, and I usually get a cup from them twice a day. The neighborhood has changed a lot over the years, but Ghanta Ghar is still the same landmark it always was. We don't do any big promotions or sales. People just know we are here and they come in when they need something new to wear. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the front door, so we have to be careful with the stock during the monsoon. I spend a lot of time chatting with the regulars who have been shopping with us for decades. It is a slow and steady kind of business. I like the routine of opening up every morning and seeing the familiar faces of the market. It is just home to me.
