K M Marbles

K M Marbles is located in Sahibabad over at Rajendra Nagar 14/A. It’s more of a yard than one of those fancy showrooms you see in the city. We have stacks of marble slabs and different types of stone leaning against the walls. Most of the work involves moving these heavy pieces around and showing people the patterns in the stone. It gets very dusty, especially when we have to cut a piece to a specific size. We wear old clothes because there’s no point in trying to stay clean in a place like this. Builders and homeowners come by to look at what we have in stock. Every batch of marble looks a little different, so people like to pick out the exact pieces they want for their floors or kitchen counters. We have trucks coming in and out quite a bit, bringing in new blocks or taking orders out to construction sites. It is hard physical work, especially when the sun is beating down on the yard in the middle of the afternoon. We have a small office where we keep the books and handle the paperwork. It’s nothing special, just a desk and some chairs. We’ve been at this 14/A address for a good while now. People know they can find us here if they need stone for their house. We don’t do much advertising; mostly it’s just people telling their neighbors about us. It’s a steady way to earn a living in this part of town.
