Jiya Garment

Jiya Garment is over here in Krishna Vihar, right at Rajendra Nagar 45/. If you walk down the street you can’t miss it. We spend most of our mornings just getting the machines ready and checking what needs to be stitched for the day. It’s not a very big operation, just a handful of us working on whatever orders came in that week. The room can get pretty cramped with all the rolls of fabric piled up against the walls, but we manage just fine. Sometimes it gets a bit noisy when everyone is working at once, and the fans are humming to keep the heat down. We don’t really have a big fancy office or a secretary answering phones. Usually, one of us just wipes the dust off the desk if someone stops by to talk. We’ve lived in this area for a long time, so most of the neighbors know us by name. The tea stall guy brings over a tray around eleven every morning, and that’s when we usually take a break to sit on the stools outside for a few minutes. It’s a simple way to run things, but it works for us. We just keep our heads down and get the garments finished so they can go out on time. There isn't much more to it than that really. Just everyday work in a regular neighborhood, trying to keep up with the pile of sewing on the table every single day.
