Arpit Garments

Arpit Garments is located at 3-N-34/2 on Ambedkar Road. It’s a straightforward kind of place. We don't have any big neon signs, just a regular board above the door. The shop is small and we’ve filled it with as many clothes as we can fit. Most of the time, I’m here by myself or with one other person helping out. We spend the mornings sweeping the front and making sure the shirts on the racks look decent. Ambedkar Road can get pretty crowded in the evenings when people are heading home from their offices. That’s usually when we get the most visitors. We have a small stool for customers to sit on and a mirror in the corner that’s a bit old but still works. The address 3-N-34/2 is easy to find if you know the landmarks nearby. We keep things pretty simple here. There’s no computer for the billing, just a handwritten ledger where we note down what was sold. Sometimes the neighborhood kids come in just to look around, and we don't mind. We’ve been at this spot for quite a while, so we know most of the people who live in the apartments nearby. It’s a quiet life, mostly just folding clothes, talking to the locals, and making sure we have enough variety on the shelves. The shelves are made of wood and they’ve started to creak a bit, but they hold the weight of the jeans and shirts just fine. It's nothing special, just our daily work.
